David + Marisa Williams and their wonderful staff made me feel at home from day one. The apartments are large and well equipped, all you need are your clothes and toothbrush. stars. This was our third stay at Dumaguete Studio Apartments. They are much improved with Sony Wide Screen Smart TVs and faster internet (150 THOUSAND MEGABITS PER SECOND) for downloading movies in less than 5 minutes. And they rent big Yamaha motor-bikes and Honda CLICK Automatic Transmission bikes! The pool is sparking clean and the grounds are spotless. This place deserves 10 stars.All rooms have good views. Been happy with all. And there are lots of trails nearby where you go for a long walk. There is even a steep mountain that you can climb if your want a great workout. If you walk high enough you will come to a shrine erected for the dead Japanese soldiers killed by Americans during the second world war.

My wife and I along without 1 yr. old daughter spent 2 and a half months at the Dumaguete Studio Apartments. Dave, Marisa and Princess really made us feel at home and everyone there including staff & other guest were very friendly and made us feel like family. The whole place was very clean quiet and very safe. The room was spacious and the WIFI was super fast. The pool and lounge area was always spotless and even had its own WIFI! Our daughter learned to walk while we were there and had plenty of room to practice and loved the playing with their little dog Princess. The free motorcycles really made everywhere in and around the area very accessible. Robinson’s Mall, Dumaguete Boardwalk, Bacong, Dauin, Valencia all were just an enjoyable bike ride away. City Mall was our favorite along with Lord Byron’s. You are free to come & go and explore just as you please which was right up our alley! So if you like to be just outside the noise, hustle and bustle of the city and prefer a quieter laid back atmosphere this is the place. We will definitely return to Dumaguete Studio Apartments.

I agree with the good parts of the last review. The apartments are perfect for two people. My Filipina girlfriend and I stayed 6 months and enjoyed every second. Everything is spotless, especially the pool. David, Marisa and staff are so friendly and did everything possible to keep us smiling. The WIFI Internet service is included. The speed is fast and there is a modem in every room, even the pool is covered by WIFI. I have never felt safer in the Philippines than when I stay here. Security cameras, electric fence, and a very tall wall that also blocks out any road noise or people just wandering onto the property uninvited. We love to go the beach but you do NOT want to swim in Dumaguete, the water is not so good. There are a lot of very clean beaches closer to the apartments and easy to get to by motorbike.Date of stay: March 2017
I am back again which tells what I think about staying here. All is good, all is familiar and much quieter from being in town and somewhat cooler. My last visit was 10 months ago and most of the staff are still here still friendly and smiling. I will be back again in July for a longer stay. Everything I said about the place still holds and interestingly I have met others that were here at this time last year. People like coming back here for good reason.

We stayed at Dumaguete Studio Apartments for 3 months. We were very happy with our stay and not only because the rooms were wonderful and very well maintained but also because the owners made us feel right at home. Dave is a bit more strict but very fair, he doesn’t ask anything absurd but he likes order. We had some very loud upstairs neighbors and we told him, they directly took the matter at hand and spoke to them (problem fixed). They are very flexible and they try to make you feel as welcome as humanly possible. They explain where to go and how and they don’t think twice to help you in a good as way as possible. I arrived in Dumaguete on February 18, 2017, and am leaving here on May 22nd. I cannot say enough good things about my stay here. It was a perfect place to stay while figuring out all that the Dumaguete area has to offer. Here’s a quick breakdown (forgive the grammar…just quick notes): Facilities and Grounds: Great air-con and fans in the rooms. Immaculately manicured landscaping. Everything I needed was in the rooms, from pots and pans for cooking to extra linen for the bed, towels for swimming, etc. A water dispenser is in the room, and the apartment staff has extra bottles of water (5 or 10 liters…not sure exactly…enough to last me for more than a week) for only 45 pesos each. There`s nothing in Dumaguete that can compare to Dumaguete Studio Apartments! It is a very clean and friendly place to stay. The staff are very sweet people and always willing to help you in any way. The Landscaping is gorgeous and the pool is just great. It`s also a very safe place and Capt. Dave and his wife Marisa are always on top of things to make sure your stay is memorable.

What a fantastic place to stay. The owners, David and Marisa, and their staff were the best. No matter what you needed help with, they were there for you. Very honest and trustworthy people too! Marisa told me “We will be your family here, so if you need anything, just ask or call us”. Everything is beautifully maintained, the apartments, the swimming pool, and the grounds. Nice mountain views too! I especially liked the location. You can use one of there motorbikes to get around or take a motorized trike also. It’s only 10 pesos (20 cents American) for a very short tricycle ride to the downtown area where there is lots to do. The tricycle stop is 2 steps outside the gate for both pick up and drop off. What a great experience it was to stay at such an amazing place!
Arriving in Dumaguete l found Marisa’s and David’s place as an excellent location. Clean and maintained in perfection. Stay three months and you get a free motorbike. I stayed one month here. Leaving today. My experience was top notch. The property is beautiful, extremely well maintained and very peaceful. My apartment was very modern, clean and had great wi-fi. Dave and Marisa are great people who go out of their way to make sure your needs are met. The motorbike was well maintained and the pool is great. I will be back to Dumaguete and this will definitely be my first choice. The pictures online were accurate, you’ll love your stay!
The pool is great as is the staff. If you are relaxed they will treat you like family. I think to make the most of your stay here you need to be able to ride a motorbike which are provided and are all well maintained and low mileage. I spent 2 months and it was great. After looking at several apartments. I had to choose this place. And I’m glad I did too. Captain David Williams is the best landlord I could ask for. The apartment was very clean. And bug free unlike most places I looked at. His wife Marisa is so nice. Ask for anything. She will get it fast. I was very impressed with the staff as well. And the pool. Very clean too. Very nice. The security is perfect too. Felt safe the whole time there. I will be staying here again. Oh ya. Free bananas. When they are ripe. They have some growing on the property. Other fruits too. And they offer a free motorbike which is great plus.
I was staying there 3 months and really enjoyed that time. The apartments contain all facilities necessary to live like a fridge or a microwave oven, the bed is large and comfortable. I also appreciated huge swimming pool. A motorbike is provided inclusively what is super-useful because it is the most comfortable way of traveling in Dumaguete. Don’t be afraid if you’re a novice in riding because you can take driving lessons in very affordable price. The staff is very friendly, actually, I felt like in a family. This place has all the things that are hard to find in Dumaguete. It’s clean, well maintained and safe. The staff are very friendly and always cleaning, fixing or updating something. It has a nice pool with lush green grass all around. If you get hungry and don’t want to leave, they will make you something to eat in their clean kitchen by the pool for a reasonable price. They also offer laundry service as well. If you have any problems they will handle it promptly. There are a few strict rules that must be followed if you want to stay, like don’t leave the gate open at night and don’t smoke anywhere except for the designated smoking area. Dave, Marisa, and their great staff provide everything you need for either a smooth transition or a no hassle vacation. Its peaceful and its beautiful just as you see from pictures. From the scooter rental, to the electrical outlets everything has been thought out for you and ready for your stay. There’s a spiteful review here…flat out lies that border on comedy. Here’s the truth. It is extremely quiet and you wont find a better quality apartment on the Island of Negros Oriental. Do the math on the cost per day along with the amenities. You wont find better internet, cable, SECURITY and a western style existence for the price anywhere. That’s why people don’t leave. I stayed at Dumaguete Studio Apartments for 6 weeks in JULY/AUGUST 2018. The apartment was immaculate and contained everything I required for my holiday. The whole place was spotless and nothing was to much trouble for David or Marisa, the owners. In addition, super fast Wi-Fi and more. There is also a beautiful swimming pool which was great to jump in first thing in the morning and then again in the evening, to relax after a long day exploring. I really enjoyed my stay there and intend to return later this year. If you are looking for a safe, friendly and peaceful place to stay, I would strongly recommend Dumaguete Studio Apartments
I stayed here form Dec 2015 to Feb 2016 and I must say that it was an excellent experience. It’s a great place for when you first arrive in Dumaguete to get settled and understand the workings of the city. Dave and Marisa are excellent to work with, and very trustworthy. I only planned to stay a few months, but it turned into 14. How could I leave such an amazing place? Even after 14 months I was sad to go. Perhaps especially sad as the hosts, Capt. Dave, Marisa, and Princess are real pro’s.
Dumaguete Studio Apartments has stood strong for 20 years, but looks like it opened for business yesterday. The place is immaculate, inside and out. Walls, surfaces, and fixtures are cleaned and repainted regularly.
Dave neither cuts corners nor spares expense. He runs a tight ship because that’s who he is. Good luck finding another landlord like David in the West, let alone in Asia.
The Internet was the fastest and most reliable I’ve experienced in this part of the world and all the rooms have their own router. The sunset views of the jungle-covered mountain are to die for.

There’s an amazing natural hot spring just up the road, from the buzzing town of Dumaguete in the other direction and motorbikes or a private trike for rent. You can even catch the local public transport from right outside the gate and get to town for 20 PESOS. You can return for 20 pesos!
The swimming pool area is expansive, beautifully constructed and it’s a pleasure to spend time there, night or day. There’s plenty of seating and tables in the shade, too.
There are mesh bug screens covering all the windows (which open at both ends of the apartments to produce a breeze running through) and there’s a wall around the entire premises with a sturdy gate that’s locked in the evenings. I slept like a baby every night and woke up to incredible sunrises shining across the mountain every morning.
The other landlords in Dumaguete should grab a notepad and a sharp pencil before booking a room here for a few nights so they can see how it’s done. I got multiple offers for “cheaper” places, but “cheap” is really the key word for what was offered to me. And most of the time, the price difference was minimal anyway.
Dumaguete Studio Apartments was the nicest, cleanest, most secure, friendliest place I could hope for. My time here was good for me. If and when I come back to Dumaguete, I won’t be shopping around for accommodation.

If you want to stay in a safe, clean, well maintained property, I highly recommend Dumaguete Studio Apartments.I’ve stayed here two months now and highly recommend Dumaguete Studio Apartments. The owner has fair rules to keep the complex safe and enjoyable for all tenants. I was present when one tenant refused to leave a deposit or ID as a security deposit. This tenant then threatened the owner with violence and then left before paying his electric bill. You can see this person’s negative review several below mine. This person lived next door to my apartment and was a troubled person.

I stayed here for 2 months, and I enjoyed every day. Both the staff and the owners were all very friendly at all times. And the premises were gorgeous: the garden, the building, the pool area and the pool, and the room of course, they were all very tranquil and clean. And, perhaps strangely, I enjoyed the high quality of everything, the sturdy feel to everything from the furniture to the building itself. It’s all built according to standards I’m only used to from back home. The internet is the best you’ll find in the city. Right outside you’ll find a convenience store and a street vendor selling delicious lunch. And last but not least, the motorbike rental is a great benefit. I stayed for a month and enjoyed every day of my stay. The grounds are clean and secure, I never felt unsafe once. The apartments are perfect for two. They are large, airy, and clean. The best part was the pool which was very clean, large enough to stay cool during the day but not so big that you can’t swim end to end. Everything you need is there including a super nice pool and pool area, a motorbike in top condition, and security. Everything is clean and well maintained. Capt. Dave and Marisa, I might be back one day. Its hard to believe its been over a year. You cannot go wrong staying here. In fact, I would almost say you are making a huge mistake, if you do not give this place a try. You will be so happy that you did. Capt. Dave is the brother that will have your back and protect you. When I arrived the staff jumped right in and helped me lug all my luggage upstairs to my room. The view overlooking pool is wonderful and jumping in the pool is an oasis. Every single need was met and they went above and beyond to make my stay an enjoyable one. I felt like family. The only sad thing was having to leave this paradise in Dumaguete.

There is a restaurant near the pool for breakfast or dinner. The thing I liked best was that if you can drive a motorbike they will let you use one included in the price of the room!!! I just spent 2 weeks at the studio apartments. I found it to be very quiet, clean, and very secure. .Dave and his wife Marisa are the best host and have made me feel like this was my home.. My wife and I lived at Studio Apartments for 6 months while we were waiting to get my wife’s travel documents. The experience was fantastic. David and Marisa did everything possible to make our stay comfortable. They were honest and treated us fairly. They also keep the apartments and grounds spotless. I stayed at the Studio Apartments for more than 4 weeks while diving at Oslob, Apo, and Similan Islands in Dumaguete. I was fortunate to stay here after it was highly recommended by a friend of mine who had stayed here and it far exceeds my expectations for what I paid. This is the place I will be staying when returning for my next diving adventure.
Very relaxing atmosphere and the location is nicely tucked away and gives solitude when you need it. The rooms were clean and tidy, air-conditioning icy cold, internet connection first-class and cable TV. Bikes were available to rent or with a driver if required.
Dave is a gentleman and a wealth of information not only on diving spots throughout the Philippines but on life in general. He and his family made me feel welcome and I hope you enjoy it too.

But I ended up staying there for almost 3 months! Throughout my life I have been staying in all sorts of high level resorts and hotels, but I have never encountered an experience of customer service as I did in CANDAUAY Apartments. Basically I was treated like family, and whenever I had question or needed a favor, David and has wife Marisa, always tried to help me to the best of their abilities. And in the end, it ended up being quite a number of questions and favors, since it was my first time in the Philippines. But I was always met with a smile and a helping hand.

We spent 10 wonderful days here this month. We knew no one in Dumaguete when we came here, but by the time we left, we felt as if we were leaving our new family. Really, I can’t say enough good things in Dumaguete. We rented a big Yamaha motorbike. Our BIG BIKE YAMAHA was mechanically perfect. Dave and Marissa really went “above and beyond.”Date of stay: June 2018
